Just in Time for the Holidays… Pie Baking Class with Phyllis Bartholomew (Thursday, November 21)!

Sign up today, for a pie baking class (Pumpkin Pie with Pecan Topping), to be held in Central City, Thursday, November 21 1:00 pm-4:00 pm.  The class is being taught by National Pie Baking Contest Grand Champion Phyllis Bartholomew.  Phyllis owns Blue Ribbon Pie Company and has taught pie baking classes for many years.

The class fee of $36 includes hands-on instruction, recipe and a homemade pie to take home.  Attendees are asked to bring a glass pie dish and rolling pin.  To register, please call the library @ 308-946-2512.

WORLD BOOK NIGHT giver applications are now available!
What is World Book Night? World Book Night is an annual celebration dedicated to spreading the love of reading, person to person. Each year on April 23 –Shakespeare’s birthday– tens of thousands of people in the U.S. go out into their communities and give a total of half a million free World Book Night paperbacks to light and non-readers.
Our library is one of the shipment locations for the books. 🙂

Nebraska Author Charlotte Endorf Presented Humanities Nebraska Program @ Library Oct. 19

Charlotte Endorf’s “Excess Baggage: Riding the Orphan Train”

Nebraska author Charlotte Endorf entertained and educated the audience at the library about some of the real-life stores of orphaned children who rode the Orphan Trains from 1854-1929. Those in attendance really enjoyed her touching stories!
