Stock up on your reading materials!  We will be CLOSED FOR PAINTING February 26th through March 5th.  We will reopen (looking great!) on March 8th at our normal opening time, 2:00p.m.  Of course our convenient drop box is always open for returns but we will be forgiving any fines that you may incur during the time we are closed.

Titles recently added to our collection include: Unlocked by Karen Kingsbury, McKettricks of Texas: Garrett by Linda Lael Miller, Kidnapped by Jan Burke, From the Heart of Covington by Joan Medlicott, Winter Solstice by Rosamunde Pilcher, River’s Edge by Terri Blackstock, The Funny Thing Is by Ellen DeGeneres, The Twilight of Courage by Bodie and Brock Thoene,  The American Heart Association Cookbook, Empty Promises by Ann Rule, I Did but I Wouldn’t Now by Cara Lockwood, The Virtuous Woman by Vicki Courtney and The Penwyth Curse by Catherine Coulter.  For the young chapter book readers check out these new books, Dairy of a Wimpy Kid: The Ugly Truth by Jeff Kinney, Ghost Dog Secrets by Peg Kehret, and Captain Underpants and the Perilous Plot of Professor Poopypants by Dav Pilkey.  The younger children will enjoy our new series Backyard Books about spiders, dragonflies, grasshoppers and more!  They can also learn all about Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson or Benjamin Franklin with our new Discovery Readers.  New picture books include Lots and Lots of Zebra Stripes by Stephen R. Swinburne, Monster Boy’s School Lunch by Carl Emerson, and Goofy Baby or Daisy’s Pet Project by Walt Disney.

See our Facebook page to see photos of these and other recently added titles.

Many of these titles are donated books so they are not newly published but “new” to our library.  Donated books allow us to expand our collection more than we ever could with our annual budget so they are always appreciated.  Please keep in mind though that when you do donate to the library it usually takes some time before we can get to processing those and if we already have 2 copies of any title we may opt to put some donated books in our “Used Books for Sale”.  This still benefits the library of course as we can then take those funds and purchase new books or other supplies for the library.  We currently have several boxes in our backroom that we are working on.  The patrons of Hooper are so generous!
