Summer Reading Program for tweens/teens and adults has officially started!! Come into the library to get started!
Come in and meet our new Assistant/Children’s Librarian, Betty Shockley. She is working Monday evenings from 5 – 7:30 pm, Wednesday evenings from 5 – 8 pm, and Thursdays from noon to 3 pm. Her first event will be the Homecoming Story Hour on August 30th from 4 – 5 pm. Come join her for stories, crafts, snacks, and FUN!
From now until June 1, our readers can submit a JLG bookmark entry! Four national winners will be selected from each grade range—elementary school, middle school, and high school. Pick up a bookmark template at the library and turn in completed art to the library by the end of May or sooner so we can submit them. We can only submit one entry per reader so pick your best to submit!
This year’s National Library Week theme is, “There’s More to the Story.” Start by helping your reader choose their favorite JLG book and then let them turn their story interpretation into art! Maybe they draw their favorite character, the background of an important scene, a key element, or how a story makes them feel… the possibilities are endless!
While artistic skill will be considered, the JLG judges are more interested to see what your readers have to say—let the ideas flow! Start creating, readers!
Borrow ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines to read on your phone or tablet using the Libby app by OverDrive. You can even send and read your borrowed ebooks to your Kindle ereader (U.S. only)! It’s free and easy to get started. Learn more at overdrive.com/apps/libby/.
Would you like an app that tells you what you have checked out now and when it’s due? Librista does that and more, it’s the library app you need! You can see if a book is available at the library and reserve it or put it on a list so you know you were interested in it. You can see the history of what you have checked out. Librista will notify you if your book is overdue and tell you if you have any fines.
You can find out what books were just added and what is trending on the Librista app. You can find Librista on Google Play or the App Store. There are links for Librista on the right side of our webpage https://libraries.ne.gov/osceola/ To use Librista we need to supply you with a password at the library. If you are interested come in or call and get your password today!
