January 2015 Calendar of Events@ the Palmyra Memorial Library

January 1 – Happy New Year 2015!!

January 7 – Free blood pressure check at the library from 5:00 – 6:00 P.M.

January 12 – Palmyra Book Club will meet at 2:00 P.M. to discuss the book – Sandcastle Girls.

January 12 – Palmyra Memorial Library Board meeting at 6:00 P.M. at the library.

January 18 – Winter Story Time at the library at 4:00 P.M. Bring your mittens.

January 21 – A new Book Club for 4th, 5th & 6th graders will meet from 6:30 – 7:30 P.M. to organize for the year. Any student in these grades is welcome to attend. For more information call the library at 402-780-5344 or e-mail

January 25 – Come learn the “History of Palmyra” at 2:00 P.M. at the Palmyra Activities Center. We will be showing the DVD – the “History of Palmyra” and a panel of local Palmyra residents will be available to answer questions.

January 26 – Youth Advisory Committee will meet at 6:00 P.M.

Palmyra Memorial Library Book Club for Kids

Holiday Open House Sunday December 14th

The public is invited to a holiday open house at the Palmyra Memorial Library on Sunday, December 14th from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M.  There will be two very unusual holiday collections on display and you can also enjoy some Christmas cookies and punch/coffee.  Check out our collection of holiday books and DVDs.

Movie Night November 7th

Movie Night at the Palmyra Activities Center. Bring your blanket and sleeping gear and join us for an evening of fun. Doors open at 6:30 P.M. and movie starts at 7:00 P.M. Treats will be provided.

Feedsacks: Facts and Fallacies

The Palmyra Memorial Library is hosting a program titled “Feedsacks: Facts and Fallacies” by local Palmyra resident, Gloria Hall, on Sunday, November 9th at 2:00 P.M. at the Palmyra Activities Center. Hall is well known throughout the region for her collection of feedsacks and quilts that date back to the 1830s.   Her presentation will take you back to a “I Remember When” time in our textile history. You will see hand sewn sacks made before commercial machines were available. This trunk show has lots of variety and is one you will not want to miss! Hawaii Program October 5th

The Palmyra Memorial Library is excited to be hosting a program on Hawaii presented by Palmyra resident, Jan Jones –  Sunday, October 5th at 2:00 P.M. at the Palmyra Activities Center.  Come and experience the sights, sounds, and even the smells of the beautiful state of Hawaii.  There will be treats and sweets for everyone.

Palmyra Memorial Library is hosting LEGO Day on Sunday, September 21 from 2-4 P.M. at the Palmyra Senior Center. Pack up those LEGOS and come have some fun creating and sharing ideas with others. If you have completed projects, please bring them so we can display them. We will also have lots and lots of new books for you to check out that day.
