The Palmyra Memorial Library is hosting a program titled “Feedsacks: Facts and Fallacies” by local Palmyra resident, Gloria Hall, on Sunday, November 9th at 2:00 P.M. at the Palmyra Activities Center. Hall is well known throughout the region for her collection of feedsacks and quilts that date back to the 1830s. Her presentation will take you back to a “I Remember When” time in our textile history. You will see hand sewn sacks made before commercial machines were available. The Palmyra Memorial Library is excited to be hosting a program on Hawaii presented by Palmyra resident, Jan Jones - Sunday, October 5th at 2:00 P.M. at the Palmyra Activities Center. Come and experience the sights, sounds, and even the smells of the beautiful state of Hawaii. There will be treats and sweets for everyone.
Palmyra Memorial Library is hosting LEGO Day on Sunday, September 21 from 2-4 P.M. at the Palmyra Senior Center. Pack up those LEGOS and come have some fun creating and sharing ideas with others. If you have completed projects, please bring them so we can display them. We will also have lots and lots of new books for you to check out that day. The Palmyra Memorial Library Summer Reading Program really put a “Fizz” in things when approximately 40 area youth participated in a month long science program led by Mrs. Science AKA Lucinda Faunce. Ice, fire, water, electricity, energy and chemistry were all incorporated into a fun learning experience for the children. July 29th will be “Movie Night” – so pack your blanket and pillow and come enjoy an evening of fun and snacks.
NEST the Nebraska College Savings Plan will deposit $529.00 into a NEST plan for 15 lucky summer readers, five in each congressional district and each library will win $250.00. Children in the Palmyra Memorial Library are eligible to enter the drawing, if they meet their personal reading goal and attend three of the five summer reading sessions.
