“Go Nutty For BOOKS” annual pajama story hour will be held Wednesday, November 14 from 7:30-8:30 p.m. Ages 3 through 2nd grade are welcome to attend. Students must be age 3 by September 1. Come in pajamas. Best loved blankets, stuffed animals or dolls understood.

Lunch & Learn Scheduled
The Library is sponsoring a “Computer Skills Hodgepodge” Lunch & Learn class on Thursday, November 15 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. Participants will be given an opportunity to ask for specific help on how to do a computer related task: Copying/pasting, saving documents, creating folders–WHATEVER! Mary Gurney will be back again as instructor. There is $5 cover charge for lunch with pre-registration required by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13. Library Sleepovers Scheduled
The “Girls Only” summer reading sleepover for those girls who completed their required reading will be held on Friday, October 12 from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. The “Boys Only” sleepover will be held on Friday, October 19 the same hours. Games, food and fun are planned for the evening with breakfast served before the 8:00 a.m departure.

The Rock County Public Library is offering the class, “Introduction to Searching for Your Ancestors Using U.S. Federal Census Files” on Thursday, September 20 from 12:00 noon to 1:15. This is your opportunity to find out how you can use HeritageQuest, a free database available online, from any computer connected to the Internet to search for “Great Grandpa.” Please note this is a 71 minute class. Social Media Workshop Scheduled
The BKR County Extension Office is sponsoring a free Social Media Workshop at the Rock County Public Library on Wednesday, June 20th at 7:30 p.m. Expand your knowledge and understanding of what social media is, who uses, why it is used and how it can benefit you and/or your business. Topics to be covered include social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube etc., security settings, do and don’ts and Google audit. Session presented by Jaime Hanson, BKR Counties Extension Intern.
“Vigilante Days” Book Discussions
Several book discussions, “Vigilante Days” featuring Frontier Justice Along the Niobrara by Harold Hutton, will be held at the Rock County Public Library on May 30th and June 4th at 7:00 p.m. Local residents who knew Harold Hutton or worked with him closely will share some biographical information and other interesting stories about the author. Discussion attendance at one session is encouraged but not mandatory to attend Doc Middleton Country tour planned for Saturday, June 9th. Attendees usually read the book before discussion attendance. Everyone is welcome and refreshments will be served.
SUMMER READING
The Rock County Public Library is encouraging students/parents to stop by the library to sign up for the 2012 “Dream Big, Read!” summer reading program for students who have completed Kindergarten through 6th grade. Parents may register their students anytime now for the reading program. Students get to decide how many hours they think they can read from the last day of school through July 31, 2012. Every student who participates in summer reading completing 10 hours of reading through this time period will be invited to a ‘sleep over’ at the Library with date and time to be announced later. They also receive a book buck for every hour up to 20 hours read which can be used to purchase prizes at the Library or students may use each buck earned to register for drawings. Books/magazines must be checked out from the Rock County Public Library to qualify.
Buying & Selling on the Internet Class
Buying and selling on the Internet hands on class will be offered at the Rock County Public Library on Mondays April 16, 23, and 30th from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Class is limited to 6 students with students expected to attend all three sessions.
