Foundation News

In the 2020s, the Foundation continued updating library computers, sponsored the Dolly Parton Imagination Library for 0-5 year olds in the Verdigre School District, helped host Humanities Nebraska speakers, contributed to wifi upgrades, helped sponsor the Chalk Art and entertainers during Kolach Days, purchased wall paint and storeroom shelves, donated toward a visit by origami artist Linda Stephen, and added to our digital archives (school annuals and more Verdigre Eagles).

In 2018-2019 the Foundation helped bring The Kilted Man (Matthew Gurnsey) for the 150th Kolach Days, sponsored a barn quilt painting workshop and Movie & Dessert event that celebrated Vincent Van Gogh.  They pledged to update two public computers per year and helped fund the Library’s transition to new software that put our catalog online.  Plus they funded another case for holding the next forty years of Verdigre Eagles, put Eagle years 2010-2015 onto microfilm and completed getting the Verdigre Eagles and Centennial Book digitized.

2016-2017 projects funded by the Library Foundation included street logo signs, makerspace tables, a flat-screen tv, and helping sponsor Summer Reading Program and special presenters like The Lego Guy for Kolach Days, a Jim Cosgrove (“Mr. Stinky Feet”) family concert at the softball field and a Bruce Arant illustration workshop for kids.
