Pawnee History in Merrick County at CC Public Library on November 20th!

The library is hosting a special day on November 20 in recognition of Native American Awareness Month.

The Pawnee Indians, who lived in this area for centuries, will be the subject of a presentation by Bill Bolte and Ladd Reeves of Central City, and Ron Glasser of Clarks. There will be numerous artifacts and other items on display, as well as historical information about the history of the Pawnees in Merrick County.

During the afternoon, there are programs scheduled for children, and a program at 7 PM is open to the public.

This event is funded by a grant from The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.

Stop in and See Our White Table Display!

Ever since the Vietnam War, a WHITE TABLE has been set across America in mess halls and at military events to honor America’s Armed Forces, especially those missing in action and held prisoner of war. Each of the items on the table signify different things. Over the years, the “table” has evolved and there are some slight differentiations that exist between the tables set by each branch of the military. The general principle, and most of the setting, is similar. Here’s our version of the #WhiteTable. We’ll have it on display for the next couple of weeks.
