FOR THE 10TH CONSECUTIVE YEAR, Central City Public Library HAS BEEN NAMED ONE OF AMERICA’S STAR LIBRARIES!
Our library has been awarded a coveted 4 Star rating inΒ Library Journal‘s 2017 national rating of public libraries, recognizing it as one of the top libraries in the nation!
WE ARE ONE OF ONLY FOUR LIBRARIES IN NEBRASKA TO RECEIVE A STAR RATING FOR 10 CONSECUTIVE YEARS!
Over 7,409 libraries across the nation were evaluated for the “America’s Star Libraries” report.Β In this edition, there are 259 Star Libraries, each receiving three-Star, four-Star, or five-Star designations.
The LJ Index gives an overall indication of how libraries stack up to their peers nationally. This award is based on five separate categories: number of visitors, rate of circulation, attendance at local programs, internet usage, and electronic circulation (electronic circulation was added beginning with the 2016 edition).
Being recognized on a national level is a true honor we share not only with our library staff and Library Board of Trustees, but with our exceptional library patrons and fantastic community partners as well! We could not have achieved this national recognition without all of you!
Thank-YOU for making us an America’s Star Library once again!

There will be numerous artifacts and other items on display, as well as historical information about the history of the Pawnees in Merrick County.
During the afternoon, there are programs scheduled for children, and a program at 7 PM is open to the public.
