Students grade nine to adult are invited to join us for a Humanities Nebraska program at the library as musician and composer Snyder relates the evolving history of the blues and its importance as African-American expression, as well as its seminal and continuing impact on contemporary popular music.
Randall Snyder, a renowned composer and jazz musician from Lincoln, NE. Born in Chicago, Snyder has a rich musical background, including a scholarship to the Stan Kenton Band Camp and an honor in the Downbeat magazine Student Hall of Fame. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin and has studied Korean music in Seoul. With over 100 published works, Snyder’s music has been performed by numerous ensembles and won several awards. He has taught jazz, ethnomusicology, and rock and roll at UNL and is also an accomplished jazz performer. Don’t miss this chance to experience his extraordinary talent live!
