My Ántonia: The Story of an “American Novel”
Recommended for ages 5th grade to adult
Join us for an engaging exploration of Willa Cather’s classic novel My Ántonia, a poignant story of the American experience and the immigrant journey. Selected as one of the fifty titles for the National Endowment for the Arts’ 2024 Big Read initiative, this program is offered in partnership with the National Willa Cather Center.
Through this event, we’ll uncover the timeless themes of resilience, community, and the American frontier in My Ántonia. Together, we will celebrate the joy of reading and reflect on how this beloved novel continues to resonate in our world today.
Community Book Discussion: Interested participants will have the opportunity to receive one of 30 free copies of the book, generously provided by the National Willa Cather Center. We invite you to come together again on December 10th at 6:00 pm for a book discussion.
This program is part of the NEA Big Read initiative, which aims to create connections and enrich lives through the shared experience of reading.
