Today’s Facebook Friday North Platte History event looks at how our local newspaper covered the tragic events that happened on December 7, 1941, the attack by the Japanese on Pearl Harbor Hawaii.

Next Tuesday, December 7, 2021, will mark the 80th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Many readers remember this historic event from grandparents and great grandparents. But sadly, only a few of our residents with firsthand accounts of World War II are still with us.

Please look through the post photographs of the newspaper headlines and remember how our North Platte Community responded to this shocking news, as our country entered World War II. And remember, in 1941, newspaper and radio were the ONLY way to find about news.
