LIBRARY SERVICES OFFERED AT LIBRARY

Written By: Laura Alt - Apr• 09•13

A common myth is that libraries are only utilized by avid readers.  This is no longer the case as libraries offer many non-traditional services.  New at the library is a Cricut Expression machine for crafters, card makers, scrap booker, quilter, hobbyist or an enthusiastic grandparent wanting new ways to entertain. Several patrons take advantage of free fax services.  Copies and laminating services are available for a minimal charge.  There is a large selection of movies that can be checked out for 3 days at no charge.  Patrons also have access to electronic books for their e-readers via Nebraska Overdrive.  Patrons can access this service for the library website: http://libraries.ne.gov/shelby  A free Nebraska Overdrive e-reader class will be held May 22, 2013 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. by Sarah Warneke the Northeast Library System Director.  Space is limited, so reserve your spot today.   New books and movies are purchased each month, including many in large print addition.  These include popular authors, bestsellers, local interest, reference, etc.

The Shelby Community Library has eighteen desktop and laptop computers that are utilized on a daily basis by adults and students.  Internet access had become essential to daily life but not all households have internet access, which can be accessed for free at the library.  Support is also available for patrons wanting computer and/or e-reader assistance.  The library is open six days a week, including Wednesday evenings, and is closed on Sundays.  Please see the library website for daily hours.  Questions regarding the library can be directed to the library staff or the library board members.
