The Scholastic Book fair is coming to The Shelby Community Library starting Saturday, October 12, 2013 through October 19, 2013.

You are invited to our OPEN HOUSE. It is taking place Wednesday, October 16th & Thursday, October 17th, from 12:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. along with Parent/Teacher Conferences.
FREE REFRESHMENTS AND DRAWINGS WILL BE HELD.

You and your family are invited to come during any of our library hours. Our Book Fair hours are Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday, Tuesday 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon, reopen 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday 12:30 noon to 8 p.m. Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon reopen 12:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., last day Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. We think you’ll be happily surprised at the varied selection and reasonable prices.

Besides bringing in affordable appropriate book to our community, the goal of our Book Fair is to add books to the children’s section in the library and school classrooms. One way is with the Wish List, which allows you to donate books to your library or child’s class room in your family’s name. Be sure to look for the Wish List display when you arrive. We had fun at the Summer Reading Party.  We came dressed to get wet.  Water balloon toss, balloon fight, water sponge tag and fill the bucket with water was played.  Reading prizes where given out.  Four way tie for First place prize in the Pre-school thru Kindergarten Brooklynn Martines, Logan Martines, Aaron Willis and Alexis Wetjen.  First place in the 1st Grade thru 3rd Grade was Isabelle Arguello.  Winning the First place prize in the 4th Grade and up was Mariah Herbeck.  Congratulations!  The party ended with a watermelon feed served with Gatorade.

Come in early to get the best selection.  Paperback books .50 to $1, hardbacks $1.50 to $3.  If you would like to clean your closets we will take your gently used books.  Proceeds will benefit your library.

Sunday, July 21st will be the Shelby Community Picnic at Kyote Run Golf Course.  Picnic 11 am to 4 p.m. $5 Grilled hamburger or polish dogs, chips & bottled water. Shaded picnic tables.
