Library Foundation Board Meeting

The Ainsworth Library Foundation Board held its regular quarterly meeting on November 29, 2021 at the Ainsworth Public Library.  President Marsha Fuchs called the meeting to order at 5:03 p.m.  Roll call showed six members present.  They included Wendy Allen, Marsha Fuchs, Traci Ganser, Phyllis Leach, Bill Lentz, and Deanna Taylor.  Member Teri Soles was absent.  The Library Director was also present for the meeting. 

The minutes of the last meeting was read and approved.  Wendy Allen presented the Treasurer’s Report.  The report was approved.  There were no bills that needed paid at this time.   

The Gift Transaction List from August to November 2021 was presented.  The following memorials were received in memory of:

Mrs. Josie Voss from Mrs. Iree McNally

Mr. Brent Johnson from the Ainsworth Community Schools

Mrs. Sharon Pollock from the Ainsworth Community Schools

Mr. John Bejot gave a donation to the Library.  Other revenue received included funds from the Bob Ross Book Signing; the Notecard Fundraiser; and coffee sales at the Library. 

An update was given on the landscaping project.  Marsha Fuchs said that the plants would be put in the ground this coming spring. 

A report was given on the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library that the Library partners with Chamber of Commerce.  We currently have a total of 50 children involved with the program.  The Library set their table up next to the Photo Booth at the Main Street Trunk and Trick to collect the donations for a Halloween Picture.  A total of $270 was collected for expenses with the Imagination Library project.

Updates were given on Fall events at the Library which included the Book Club, the Bob Ross author visit/book signing, and the program by Matt Mason our State Poet.

An update on the grants which the library had applied for was given.  It was noted that the Foundation received a total of $4196 from the ARPA Library Formula Grant.  We will be awarded partial funding of $1100 for the ARPA Youth Grant for Excellence to be used for STEM/STEAM items.   Word had just been received that the library was approved funding for the ARPA Library Improvement Grant to be used for Makerspace items.  The funding will run through the Foundation.   Darlene Cleal contacted the Library on a teacher’s grant for $500.  This is in the works and will be awarded soon.

Discussion was held on outside lighting to be purchased with the Fredia Hinrichs Memorial.  No final decisions were made yet.

Fundraising was discussed.  It was noted that we raised a total of $260 on the Notecards.  We still have 15 sets to sell which should raise $150 more.  No plans were made for the quilt raffle.  Traci said that Tuesday Giving on Facebook would be hold tomorrow.   She is planning on doing a request for the Library.

The next meeting date and time was set for Feb. 16th at 5 p.m.   With no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 5:45 p.m.
