Book Club Selection for February

The February Book Club selection will be “The Good Lord Bird” by James McBride. This is a story of a young boy born a slave who joins John Brown’s antislavery crusade-and who must pass as a girl to survive. Over the ensuing months, Henry-whom Brown nicknamed as Little Onion, conceals his true identity as he struggles to stay alive. Eventually Little Onion finds himself with Brown at the historic raid on Harpers Ferry in 1859. This is a moving story of exploration on identity and survival.

If you would like to read this title, stop by the library and pick up a copy to enjoy. We will be gathering on Feb. 22nd at 2 p.m. to share thoughts on this title.
