Maker Fridays…..Sewing a Pillowcase

013017sewFourteen children in grades 3 – 7 are learning how to sew a pillowcase at the Hildreth Public Library.  Volunteer, Pat Beck is working with the kids every Friday after school until the project is completed later this month.   The maker class began with each participant choosing his/her pre-cut material)  There was a large selection of material to choose from such as John Deere, owls, Minions, dogs, Spiderman, Disney and wildlife.  Next the students folded and ironed the pre-cut piece of material and pinned it to another piece of material.  Sewing those two pieces together on a sewing machine was the final step for the first day.  Follow us next week to see what we accomplish on Day 2.

Folksinger performs at Hildreth Public Library

002Adam Miller, folksinger, storyteller and autoharp virtuoso, performed on Wednesday, September 16 at the Hildreth Public Library.  Singing through history was the theme of the program.  The audience enjoyed the program and sang along to several folk songs.  A great time for community residents of all ages!
