The Sutton Memorial Library Board met at 5:00 P.M. on January 7,2016 in the Library. President Joyce Brown called the meeting to order and referred to the Open Meeting’s Act. Present were: Librarian, Shelly Reed, and board members, Joyce Brown, Pam Overturf, Gertie Schmer, Carol Hendricksen, Harriet Master and City Administrator, Jeff Hofaker.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The bills for the month of December were presented and approved. A check in the amount of $250 for the Library Memorial Fund was received from Connie K. Dolezal. A thank you note has been sent to Connie.
Shelly presented the circulation report for the month of December statistics as follows: Adult books: 464, Children: 144, Juniors: 52, Computers: 114, Periodicals: 14, Audio books: 0, DVDs: 88. Total circulation was 876 and total visitors were 655.
Old Business: Shelly and Carol will start a Story Hour for pre-school children, on Friday morning on the 1st and 3rd Friday, beginning in February.
Another movie is scheduled for Friday, January 22 at 6:30 P.M., and the movie will be “Philomena”. Discussion was held regarding purchasing a laptop and a surround sound speaker to be used for movies, and it was decided to use Memorial Funds to purchase this equipment for approximately $1000.00
Jeff will check with the city employees regarding fixing or replacing the flag holder, and will check with the legion regarding replacing the flag.
We continued working on Strategic Plan/12 Steps: A meeting with the Friends of the Library will be held on Thursday 11 @6:30 P.M. for a Round Table Discussion. The Library Board will question designated groups before this meeting regarding the Strategic Plan.
Our next meeting will be February 4th @ 5 P.M.
Without further business, President Joyce Brown closed the meeting at 5:50 P.M.
