This novel is about twelve year old Iris, the only deaf person in her school. So making friends and communicating with classmates has been difficult. When she learns about a whale who is unable to speak to other whales, she decides that she wants to invent a way to sing to him. This novel is full of heart and shows how some determination can make big waves.
