A most beautiful, picture perfect day greeted the Lied Lincoln Township
Library for the groundbreaking for the new Wausa library. The ceremony
was held April 27, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. on the library grounds. Many
gathered, some with their lawn chairs, to enjoy the warm day and to enjoy
the festivities. Mayor Bill Schumacher welcomed everyone and introduced
Pastor Michelle Oetken, Thabor Lutheran Church, to give the blessing. He
then introduced the members of the Lincoln Township Board, the Lincoln
Township Library Board, the Lincoln Library Foundation Board , the
Building Committee and the Library Director. All of these individuals
have put in many hours of their time and efforts to make this day
possible.

Mayor Schumacher then introduced Shane Clausen, of Clausen Brothers
Contractors, who spoke on the years and efforts in making the new library
a reality. Construction of the library will begin in June. State
Senator Tyson Larson was present and spoke of the benefits a town receives
from having a library and of the benefits that a new library will give to
the people of Wausa. The ground breaking, with a representative from
each board, plus Senator Tyson, Shane Clausen and Virginia Lindquist,
library director each taking a gold shovel, thanks to the efforts of Fred
Frank, and turned the dirt for the new library. Pastor Michelle then gave
a blessing on the soil that will be where the new library is to be built.
Everyone enjoyed refreshments and visiting and looking forward to day the
new library will be a reality for Wausa.
