When you think about your library, what’s the first thing that comes to your mind? Books? Well, think again. Yes, books are our foundation. Your local library also offers access to the tools and technology essential to the economic and cultural lives of their communities. We help people apply for jobs and find information for their small businesses. We are a link to resources for people who are new to this community and are searching for answers to a range of questions from where to find housing, to information about local schools. We help kids and parents with their homework questions and provide resources to teachers at every age level. We bring programs, performers and resources to rural communities. Not everyone has access to wireless internet or owns the newest electronic device, but they can access those things here. Sometimes we leave the library to bring our resources to those who need them. The possibilities are unlimited!
That’s the theme for this year’s National Library Week: Unlimited possibilities @ your library. During the week of April 13th-18th we’ll be having contests and giveaways. Hemelstrand’s and Arapahoe Floral will each be sponsoring a $20 gift certificate to two of our lucky contest winners. Stop in for your chance to play. There’s a lot going on during this week: April 14th is PJ Family Story Time at 7pm. Wear your PJ’s and bring your favorite stuffed animal or blankie. Kids and families will hear a story and leave with a bedtime snack.
On April 15th from 5-7 pm Warren Dunlap, cowboy and Christian author will be doing a book signing and sale of his latest title I O You Ranch. As RW Hampton describes it, “Stir in romance, intrigue, twists and turns, and a message that put a lump in this cowboy’s throat and conviction in his heart!” Also stop by that evening to listen to the musical talent of local artist Tom Whipple.
An Ancestry.com training will be held the 16th from 6-8pm for those who want to learn more about their family’s history. Then join us for a Family Movie Night on April 17th from 7-9 as we show Night at the Museum 3: Secret of the Tomb. Please bring your lawn chairs and we’ll provide the popcorn. Unlimited possibilities here @ your local library!
