As part of our Community Needs Response Plan, the library is collaborating with local volunteers and the Arapahoe-Holbrook Public Schools to begin Reading Buddies. The goal is to promote literacy for our younger population with the help of our community. Each month, the school will bring two classes of children to the library where they will be split into smaller reading groups. The library has a small group of vetted volunteers who read and interact with these children. The adults love the interaction with the children, and the children love to hear stories read out-loud! If you would like to learn more about this program, stop by the library!
I have just moved to this area. I am a retired teacher of young children and was a reading buddy in Denver. I would love to be one of your volunteers or a substitute if needed.
Hope to hear from you.
Hello Carolyn,
Please stop by the library when you have time. We would be happy to visit with you!
