1,000 Books By Kindergarten

Let’s start reading! If you have a child that has not yet started Kindergarten, this program is for you.

Here’s how it works: Family members start reading to their infants, toddlers or Pre-schoolers at any point. Every time your family reaches a 100 book level, your child gets recognition for their efforts. The goal is to read 1,000 books by Kindergarten which will give your child a head start in word recognition. Stop by the library for a paper form or use the Read Squared App on your phone!

Lego Club Covid-19 Edition

Graham was our Virtual Lego Club Winner in Dec

Due to the pandemic, and the library temporarily moving into the American Legion Hall, our Lego Club has seen some changes. In the month of December, with cases rising in our community, Lego Club went virtual. Families shared photos of what their kids were creating at home and we posted these on our Facebook page. Every month we draw one participant’s name and that lucky winner gets to pick out a small Lego set. Here in January, kids can bring in their creations for public display at the Legion Hall once again. This month’s theme is anything winter related.

A Sneak Peek

The new drive-up service window: Wilkins Architect Design Planning

The framing for the new drive-up service window is being installed. Pictured above is the architect’s rendering of what the new office area will look like when completed. This is located in what was the former East entrance area. Patrons will be able to drop off their books on the East side of the building; the book drop is concealed in the cupboard on the right. Our staff will also be able to assist people from their vehicles via this new drive-up service window. We’re very excited to be able to offer this new service!

Our Library Elves are Ready for the 12 Books of Christmas!

This Christmas season will look a lot different this year and the Arapahoe Public Library would like to help you begin a new tradition! We’re introducing our new program, the 12 Days of Books! Our library elves will select 12 picture books for your family, wrap them individually and then you bring home the joy of picking one book a night to read as a family.

Patrons are asked to fill out a google doc to give us some information on the ages of their family members and their preferences for different subjects. Dinosaurs and princesses are very popular. As are construction and animal books. We provide a mix of holiday and winter themed books, along with your reading preferences for a total of 12. This program ends soon as Christmas is just around the corner. Contact the library for more details.

This room can also be reserved by the public to use for meetings or social gatherings.
