The Christmas Scavenger Hunt at the Atkinson Public Library had 91 children searching high and low throughout the whole library for the holiday themed items on the hunt. After finding all of the items, their sheets were turned in for some fun prizes.
Santa flew in to the Atkinson Public Library last Monday, December 11 to visit with the area children! After registering for their pictures, the children were taken to sit and listen to Christmas stories read by Olivia Rentschler and Jordan Osborne. After that, they could go into the next room to watch a Christmas movie, or on to the table full of coloring pages to get creative. When their name was called, it was their turn to see Santa. Amber Shane, from Silver Star Photography, took pictures while the big guy visited with over 300 children and adults. Once the pictures were taken, and the children’s lists were discussed, each child left with a bag of goodies, Christmas picture frames, candy canes, and directions on how to find their pictures online so they can be printed. Santa helpers included Tonya Hytrek, Geneva Pacha, Beth Laible, Brooke Farewell, Terri Shearer, Diane Alden, Rose Vrooman, Amber Shane and Judy Hagan. This was all possible with the help of the Atkinson Friends of the Library, Silver Star Photography, Mitchell Equipment, and Atkinson/Holt County Communities for Kids.
Crafts for Kids was held at the library during the first week of December. The crafters were to create Santa’s beard, or put together pretty bells topped with poinsettias! Through the week there were 173 children, with 61 adults helping them get into the Christmas spirit. More pictures available on the library Facebook page!
Last week there was a total of 197 children and adult crafters! Thanksgiving placemats were colored, fun scarecrows were put together, colorful wind socks were colored and assembled, and standup turkey decorations were made.
