Nebraska Humanities Program
Nebraska historian Jeff Barnes presented “The Queen’s Road: Nebraska’s Bumpy Ride to Statehood” at the Atkinson Public Library on Thursday, April 11. The program, which was sponsored by Humanities Nebraska and the Atkinson Friends of the Library, was presented to a group of forty children and adults.
Barnes’s talk covered the transitional years of the Nebraska Territory, with its borders shrinking, its national significance increasing, and its sometimes shaky trek to statehood.
Easter Scavenger Hunt at the Library!
An Easter themed scavenger hunt was recently held at the Atkinson Public Library. Sixteen items were hidden throughout the library for the 126 participants to find. Afterward, they traded in their finished hunt card for a yummy treat.
Easter Crafts for Kids
Crafters at the Atkinson Public Library had a hippity-hoppity time putting together Easter themed bunny frames, necklace crafts, and slap bracelets. There were a total of 220 craft projects completed. Children were also able to have their picture taken as the Easter bunny, and could pick from some really cute coloring/activity pages to work on.
Valentine Crafts for Kids
The Atkinson Public Library held Crafts for Kids, with 182 crafters joining the fun throughout the week. There was an assortment of six different Valentine themed projects to choose from, and sweet snacks to go with them!
CPLS Heart Dog Crafts
Central Plains Library System provided some sweet Valentine puppy crafts for the Atkinson Public Library. In all, there were forty-four students that assembled the assortment of hearts into adorable pink and purple puppies!
CPLS Mitten Crafts & Books
With the winter cold blasting, Central Plains Library System supplied cute mitten crafts for the Atkinson Public Library. Twenty-three students stopped in to listen to some fun picture books about mittens, and then followed with a crafting session to make some colorful mittens!
