Join us to celebrate the grand opening of our Library Innovation Studio makerspace. If you have been wondering what you’ve been hearing so much about, here is your chance to check it out for yourself!
Dang! This place has got some cobwebs….and a collection of tumbleweeds in the corner! Val! Grab the broom! Yeah! No, the long one that will reach into the corners.
OK. So we know. It has been a LONG LONG time since we posted on here, BUT we are cleaning up, adding and updating pages, and getting reading for a busy, fun-filled summer at the library. So click around! The Kids’ Summer Reading Page is updated, the Adult Reading Program stuff is coming tomorrow. We also have some new and recurring features planned. Keep checking back and let us know what you think. Be kind. We are librarians, not website developers. 🙂
Every few years, we like to ask our patron’s about our current services to get feedback and see if there are places we can add and improve. A paper copy of this survey is available at the library, but if you have a couple of minutes, click on the Survey Monkey link below and answer a few questions. Your responses will help us to provide the best possible library services for everyone.
Looking for some new audiobooks to download to your MP3 player, tablet, laptop, or smartphone? Check out the library’s newest offering OneClickdigital audiobooks. OneClickdigital (in partnership with RBdigital from Recorded Books), is an online service that allows patrons to check out eAudiobooks and eBooks, including best-sellers, Recorded Books exclusives, classics, selections for children and young adults, and much more.
Patrons have free access to eAudio and eBooks at home, in the library, or on the go. Many titles are multi-access, so multiple users can check out a given title at the same time, eliminating holds. OneClickdigital is compatible with all popular listening devices, and mobile apps are available for the iPhone®, Android™, and Kindle Fire. OneClickdigital features an easy-to-use interface with streamlined navigation, fast downloads, and automatic software updates.
Click on the button on the bottom right of the webpage to create an account. All you will need is your full 14-digit library card number. You can also search for OneClickdigital in the app store of your mobile device and get started that way. Need more help getting set up? Just call or visit us at the library and we can help out as well.
Exciting news! We have added to our digital collection! The library has joined The Central Nebraska Digital Co-op, a group composed of libraries from across the state who are working together as a group to purchase products and services. As a group, the Co-op subscribes to Zinio Magazines and OneClickDigital downloadable audio books.
Today we are going to take a look at Zinio. Through our website, patrons can have unlimited multi-user access to complete digital magazines, which can easily be viewed on most Internet-enabled devices inside or outside of the library. Zinio’s unique technology digitally recreates a magazine page for page, including full color pictures, intuitive navigation, key word article search and interactive elements such as audio and video. ESPN, Food Network, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, and Shape are just a few of the popular titles available.
All you need to access Zinio is a current Hastings Memorial Library card! You will need your library card number to create an account and then choose a personalized user name and password for future access. Magazines can download directly to your desktop or laptop. If you are using a tablet or smartphone, you can download the Zinio for Libraries app for free from your device’s app store.
Ready to get started? Visit https://www.rbdigital.com/centralnebraskane/zinio to browse the selection or to create your account and get started. We have also placed a button on the side menu of our webpage to make it easy for you to access in the future.
As always, library staff is available during regular library hours to help you with any questions you may have. Check back soon for an update and tutorial on OneClickDigital downloadable audio books!
Thanks for visiting our new webpage for Hastings Memorial Library! We have partnered with the Nebraska Library Commission to join the Nebraska Libraries on the Web project. The new site will allow us to update the page anytime we have something new to share. Click around and check out what the library has to offer. The site is still a work in progress, and we will be updating and adding new links and information all the time, so keep checking back. Let us know what you think and if you have any suggestions to make the site better.
