Spring Fun at the Library this Week!

The Library has some fun activities coming up this week.  On Tuesday at 1:15 p.m. is story time for preschool-age children.  We are reading several Easter stories and a story about a surprise.  The preschoolers will be in for a surprise of their own.  Don’t miss the fun!

Book Club meets Wednesday at noon to discuss the book, Fly Boys.  Following book club, is a horticulture program at 1:00 p.m. by Kim Sindt, Extension Aide.  Kim always has terrific educational programs and she supplies us with many wonderful handouts to help us in our yards and gardens.  Don’t forget to bring your questions for Kim.

On Thursday, after school, there will be an Easter Egg Hunt in the library for elementary and middle school age youth, as well as games and treats.

December Library Activities

The Friends of the Library held their annual Christmas Bake Sale on December 13.  There were many, many delicious baked items as well as time to visit with friends over a cup of coffee and roll.  Approximately 100 people attended the morning event with nearly $800 in sales.  Thank you to all those who baked items and also for purchasing items to help the Friends of the Library.

Children made Christmas tree ornaments for our tree in the Library.  The ornaments were made with  folded cupcake/muffin papers to look like a tree and then decorated with bling!  002

The evening and noon What’s Cookin’ groups met in December.  Hostesses were Brenda Alberts, Cheryl Loschen, Dona Casper and Pat Beck.  The evening group served taco bites, turkey salad on croissants, snowman cheeseball with crackers, upsidedown cranberry cake and hot cider.  The noon group served chicken roll-ups with cheese sauce, cheesecake, plates of fudge and candy and hot cider.  Great food and a fun time!!

A special story time and cookie decorating for the preschool class was December 18.  We read several Christmas books and The Book with no Pictures followed by the children decorating their sugar cookies and eating them.  Also, after school on Dec. 18, K – 8th grades decorated sugar cookies and ate them.  We had some great decorators!

On December 22 there will be a party after school with stories, games and refreshments for K – 8th grades.  We will be opening some special gifts for the library.  Crafts will be on Monday, Dec. 29.  Toddler/Preschool age at 3 p.m. and K-8th grades will make duct tape projects at 2 p.m.  Game Day and hot chocolate will be on Tuesday, Dec. 30 – toddlers/preschool at 3 p.m. and K-8th grades at 2 p.m.  On Friday, Jan. 2 will be movie & popcorn at 2 p.m. for all ages.  Finally on Monday, Jan. 5 we will be cooking at 2 p.m. for grades K – 8th.

It was a very busy month!  Thank you for all your support this year.  Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
