Teen | Blackout Poetry

*Registration Required*

Teens in 5th-12th grade are invited to join us for Blackout Poetry in honor of National Poetry Month! This creative activity will introduce participants to the art of blackout poetry, where words in a book are transformed into unique works of visual and literary expression. Thank you to the Holdrege Area Friends of the Library for providing us with the books!

We are excited to welcome special guest Alizabeth McDermott, a local student and poet, who will be leading the session. Alizabeth is actively involved in the Iron Horse Arts District, serves as a student advisory board member for the Summer Honors Program, and has been published in the SHP Anthology, Opera Omaha: Poetry and Music Project, and The Crank.

Final projects from this workshop will be displayed at the Iron Horse Arts District Poetry Showcase & Discussion on April 15th from 6:00-7:30 PM at the Nebraska Prairie Museum. Participants can pick up their projects at the library the week after the showcase.

*Registration Required* and limited to 12 spots. As a reminder, half of registrations are available online and the other by calling or stopping by the library. Please call the library or register by using this form: https://forms.gle/Gdcox2XaMojHpY5T6
