Come Join in the Fun with Game Day

  Life, Go Fish, Cray Eights, Sorry, Jenga, Boggle, Checkers and more are just a few of the games that are played at Game Day. Come join us on Tuesdays from 3:45-4:45 pm starting Sept. 13. This is for grades 1st-6th.  For more information contact the library, 345-1906. Hope to see you there, make sure you have a library card. (we will also have snacks)

     Once again Runza is helping us with providing funds for books for the children’s section. On TUESDAY, AUGUST 23rd Runza will be donating 10% of its sales toward books.

   Runza Restaurant has been a long time supporter of reading.”Reading is vital to lifelong success and provides an excellent opportunity for families to spend time together.” stated Becky Perrett, Director of Marketing for Runza National. “Donating fiunds for books and promoting literacy is an important endeavor for children and the community.”

Join TEAM HENRY for an Author Visit

McCook City Library Invites You to Join TEAM HENRY for an Author Visit on Monday, July 18, 2016 at 10 a.m.  Dr. Pierre Rouzier is riding his bike from the coast of Oregon to Boston, Massachusetts. He will be stopping to discuss his book “Henry Gets Moving.” Henry the Hamster is a young boy who overcomes his obesity challenge with an active lifestyle and healthy eating habits.

Dr. Rouzier will present those in attendance with a book and Peg Brooks will provide a snack.

Quiet Time Storytime

Come join us Thursday (May 5) from 7:00-7:45 pm for an evening of stories, songs and fun. Miss Diane will be reading stories to get you ready to head to bed. Wear your pajamas and brnig the entire family. We will also have some milk and cookies to help off to DREAMLAND.

National Library Week

    National Library Week will be celebrated April 10-16 at the McCook Public Library. Key chains, pens and a book drawing will be held throughout the week.

Activities include:

Monday (April 11) – “Let us Bag Your Books”

Tuesday (April 12) National Library Workers Day

Wednesday (April 13), “Let Us Bag You Something Sweet”

Thursday (April 14) 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Celebration (watch for your invitation)

Friday(April 15) “Cookies in a Bag”.

Come and enjoy the different activities and help celebrate YOUR LIBRARY!!!!!

COME ENJOY AN EVENING OF POETRY

Come and enjoy an evening of poetry at the McCook  Public Library to help celebrate April as National Poetry Month. The Library has join with the McCook High School and the Buffalo Common Storytelling and Music Festival planning committee. The event will Tuesday, April 5th from 7-8 p.m. Ginny Odenbach, McCook’s poet Laureate will be the featured speaker. High school students include: Stephen Hoffman, Brandon Molczyk, Hope Rowe, Rachell Jones and Tim Brinamen. Anyone with poetry to present is encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be served.

 

HOLIDAY STORY TIME FOR ALL

     The McCook City Library will be hosting a story time on Wednesday, Dec. 23rd starting at 10 a.m. There will be stories, puppets, jokes, trivia and maybe a treat. The story time will be hosted by Miss Diane, TAB-Teen Advisory Board and the 678 Club. Come listen to the Holidays come alive with our special guests entertaining you.

Activities for Children’s Book Week

Children’s Book Week will be celebrated May 4-8 at the McCook City Library for children 3 and up with your library card. Going on all week will be a candy guess, book drawing and  help put bookworms on our dirt pile.

Schedule of daily activities include:

Monday-Bookmark Designs, 3:45-5:00 pm-come and design your own bookmarks and take it home with you to use

Tuesday-Comic Books Galore, 3:45-5:00 pm-listen to Cody Dame from Game On tell us about comic books and them write and draw your own comic strip

Wednesday-Cupcake Decorating, 3:45-5:00 pm-sit down and decorate a  cupcake to go with your favorite book

Thursday-Evening Story Time, 7:00-7:45 pm-wear your pajamas and listen to some quiet stories to help get you ready for bed (maybe milk and cookies too)

Friday-Treats All Day-stop in anytime and pick up a book bag

Book Winners for National Library Week

National Library Week was a success. On Monday we had Scrabble Day, with hard candy with letters on it; Tuesday-Library Workers Day; Wednesday-Pink Eraser Day, we handed out pencils with erasers (all colors); Thursday-High Five Day, we had patrons trace their hand prints and we displayed them and of course gave lots of “High Fives” and Firday-Cheeseball Day, we gave bags of Cheese crackers to patrons.

During the week we had sign ups for book drawings. The following received books: Childrens Books: Colin Day, Kendall Miller, Savannah McCarty, Adelyn Meyer, Tavin Rousselle, Lydia Barth, Everett Hanson, Chloe Brown, Connor Tidyman and Avery Broomfield.  Adult Book recipients include: Anna Gray, Dick Quinn, Deb Stevens, Abby Barth, Michael Snare, eric Lucero, Peggy Appleyardm Pat Pierce, Rose Dickerson, and Kim Williams.
