Plainview Public Library Fiscal Year Report for 2020-2021

I respectfully submit this report for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2020 and ending on September 30, 2021. Following are the totals for the fiscal year:

CIRCULATION:
The Library circulated 8,423 (last year 8,227) adult materials and 7,918 (last year 8,056) children’s materials for a total of 16,341 (last year 16,283) total circulation. The library received 80 books through interlibrary loan. Through Nebraska OverDrive had 631 (last year 530) checkouts for adult e-books & audiobooks and 72 (last year 274) checkouts for children = 703 (last year 804).

REGISTERED PATRONS:
There are 932 registered patrons.

COLLECTIONS:
The library holds 15,175 books; 998 audiobooks; 688 DVD, 158 cake pans and puzzles; 13 print subscriptions and 25 databases through Nebraska Library Commission. Total library collection is 17,019

COMPUTER USE:
We had 2,682 (last year 2,592) patrons use the computers. Whether it was checking their email, using facebook to keep in touch with friends and family, doing research, searching for jobs and filling out job applications, healthcare forms, irs forms, college course work, etc., they’re thankful that we have computers and free wi-fi for their use.

ANNUAL ATTENDANCE AND HOURS OF OPERATION:
The attendance for the year was 7,479 (last year 7,428). The library was open a total of 301 days.

PROGRAM ATTENDANCE:
The library’s program total attendance was 2,605 (last year 2,596) with 160 (last year 149) programs held.

REFERENCE QUESTIONS:
We were asked 703 (last year 673) reference questions by our patrons.

MATERIAL EXPENDITURES:
The Library spent $7,558.26 on books, audiobooks, and ebooks.

OTHER EXPENDITURES:
The library spent the following: Staff: $66,875.19 Utilities: $5,936.71; Insurance: $3,658.60; Telephone: $798.62; Freight: $15.00; Printing: $176.40; Operating: $8,872.68; and Continuing Education: $115.00; professional: $1,500; = $95,506.46
RECEIPTS AND GRANTS:
The Library received $6,500 from the County; $940 from State Aid; $1,000 intern grant; and $3,416.94 from copies, faxes, fines, books sold, laminating and meeting room reservations and build a bear workshop. = $11,856.94
Also received a Kreutz Bennett grant of $12,500 to purchase a laser cutter and 3d printer, with the other half of the money coming from the Plainview Library Foundation.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
Story Time for K-2nd graders held on the Mondays during the school year until April. Age 3 & 4 years old programs were on Monday mornings and Wee-Ones were on the 3rd Saturday of every month. Also for the Early Outs after School we had a movie for the kids. In April a Family/Friends Game Night was held, in October had a great pumpkin hunt, and in December the build a bear workshop.

During the summer, we had the Summer Reading Program. We partnered with the Pierce County Extension for several activities at the Library. SRP started July 6th and had Wildlife Encounters at the Library on July 7th and ended August 10th.

Eileen started a story walk in the downtown businesses in May and every month or so it is changed to a new story.

Held an Open House for Library Week showcasing the laser cutter on April 5th -10th.

Also celebrated 5 years in the new library on June 4th & 5th again showcasing the laser cutter and the new 3D printer.

The meeting room was reserved and used for different occasions: meetings, craft nights, workshops, baby shower, birthday parties, ladies game days and mahjong.

Looking forward to 2022 and what it will bring to the Library and the Community.
