Plainview Public Library Fiscal Year Report for 2021-2022

I respectfully submit this report for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2021 and ending on September 30, 2022. Following are the totals for the fiscal year:

CIRCULATION:
The Library circulated 8,791 (last year 8,423) adult materials and 7,933 (last year 7,918) children’s materials for a total of 16,724 (last year 16,341) total circulation. The library received 95 books through interlibrary loan. Through Nebraska OverDrive had 973 (last year 631) checkouts for adult e-books & audiobooks and 619 (last year 72) checkouts for children = 1,592 (last year 703).

REGISTERED PATRONS:
There are 944 registered patrons.

COLLECTIONS:
The library holds 15,541 books; 1,015 audiobooks; 714 DVD, 190 cake pans and puzzles; 13 print subscriptions and 28 databases through Nebraska Library Commission. Total library collection is 17,460

COMPUTER USE:
We had 2,456 (last year 2,682) patrons use the computers. Whether it was checking their email, using facebook to keep in touch with friends and family, doing research, searching for jobs and filling out job applications, healthcare forms, irs forms, college course work, etc., they’re thankful that we have computers and free wi-fi for their use.

ANNUAL ATTENDANCE AND HOURS OF OPERATION:
The attendance for the year was 7,763 (last year 7,479). The library was open a total of 301 days.

PROGRAM ATTENDANCE:
The library’s program total attendance was 2,685 (last year 2,605) with 215 (last year 160) programs held.

REFERENCE QUESTIONS:
We were asked 631 (last year 703) reference questions by our patrons.

MATERIAL EXPENDITURES:
The Library spent $8,442.37 on books, audiobooks, and ebooks.

OTHER EXPENDITURES:
The library spent the following: Staff: $73,177.39 Utilities: $5,804.12; Insurance: $3,449.65; Telephone: $799.37; Printing: $110.19; Operating: $16,276.24; and Continuing Education: $310.00; = Grand total with materials = $108,369.33
RECEIPTS AND GRANTS: TOTAL of $15,572.82
The Library received $8,500 from the County; $944 from State Aid; $400 donation for summer reading program and $2,670.82 from copies, faxes, fines, books sold, laminating and meeting room reservations and build a bear workshop. = $12,514.82

$980 Youth grant for lego boost kits
$1,000 Jim and Lillian Cooper Foundation grant to purchase lego STEAM kits.
$4,078 ARPA funds to purchase games, cricut mug press and cricut maker3, cricut supplies, sublimation printer, MakeDo kit, Breakout kits, Osmo Kits, Snap Circuits, CircuitCubes, and kindle fire tablet and case.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
Story Time for K-2nd graders held on the Mondays during the school year. Age birth to 4 years old programs were on Monday mornings and 3rd – 4th grade Book club every other Thursday and 5th – 8th grade Theater Book club the other Thursdays during the school year.

Other activities were the Lego club for 4th – 8th grades the first Monday and 3rd Saturday and the last Monday was Family Game Night of each month.

We had the Summer Reading Program that started July 16th with a hot dog feed and then the Lego Guy, other presentations: Art in the Sea with UNL via Zoom and Adam White Magician and Dino O’Dell and ended August 21st with a picnic and awards at the Library.

Tammie continued with the story walk in the downtown businesses every month or so it is changed to a new story.

Held an Open House for Library Week showcasing the laser cutter on April 5th -10th.

The meeting room was used for 134 different occasions: meetings, craft nights, workshops, baby shower, birthday parties, ladies game days and mahjong.

Looking forward to 2023 and what it will bring to the Library and the Community.
