Christmas at the library was very fun! We had over 140 people show up to See Santa and Mrs. Claus along with participating the Four Corners Health Department health event. Children who won books: Logan Pospisil, Mackenzie Kuns, Alexa Stewart and Rylie Carter. Children who won posters: Alex carter, Jenna Potter, Alison Nekl, Natilie Martensen, Jaimee Paddock, Rowdy Truska, Jon Velazquez and Mauricio Velazquez. Adult book winners: Lori Klitz, Mary Paddock, Steve Stewart and Nancy Martensen.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS EVENT

You are invited to attend our Breast Cancer Awareness Event.  Wednesday, December 11, 2013 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Shelby Community Library.  Learn more about breast health from your local health department.  If discovered early, breast cancers has a high survival rate.  You need to take care of yourself with regular screenings so you can live a long happy life with your family.  Sponsored by Four Corners Health Department, Patient Navigation/Every Woman Matters Program, Shelby Community Library, and The Avon Foundation.

LIBRARY CELBRATES 4th ANNIVERSARY WITH BOOK FAIR

The Scholastic Book fair is coming to The Shelby Community Library starting Saturday, October 12, 2013 through October 19, 2013.

You are invited to our OPEN HOUSE. It is taking place Wednesday, October 16th & Thursday, October 17th, from 12:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. along with Parent/Teacher Conferences.
FREE REFRESHMENTS AND DRAWINGS WILL BE HELD.

You and your family are invited to come during any of our library hours. Our Book Fair hours are Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday, Tuesday 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon, reopen 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday 12:30 noon to 8 p.m. Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon reopen 12:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., last day Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. We think you’ll be happily surprised at the varied selection and reasonable prices.

Besides bringing in affordable appropriate book to our community, the goal of our Book Fair is to add books to the children’s section in the library and school classrooms. SHELBY LIBRARY FOUNDATION RECEIVES $400

Pinn 5K Run 001

1st Annual Pinnacle Bank Run draws over 125 runners in the 5K run. Team 1  was Lu Morgan, Jen Vrbka & Pat Morgan.  Not pictured is Team 2 Rita Houdersheldt, Emily Houdersheldt and Aubrey Alt having the opportunity to receive $200 for their favorite organization. The Shelby Library Foundation received $200 for each team. THANK YOU Runners and Pinnacle Bank!

SUMMER READING CONTEST PARTY

We had fun at the Summer Reading Party.  We came dressed to get wet.  Water balloon toss, balloon fight, water sponge tag and fill the bucket with water was played.  Reading prizes where given out.  Four way tie for First place prize in the Pre-school thru Kindergarten Brooklynn Martines, Logan Martines, Aaron Willis and Alexis Wetjen.  First place in the 1st Grade thru 3rd Grade was Isabelle Arguello.  Winning the First place prize in the 4th Grade and up was Mariah Herbeck.  Congratulations!  The party ended with a watermelon feed served with Gatorade.
