National Library Week

The McCook City Library will be celebrating National Library Week April 4-8. We have several activities planned and would like you to come in and look around. If you don’t have a library card, please sign up for one! We need a current piece of mail and a photo ID, if you live in town. A current piece of mail and a photo ID and $10 for those of you living outside city limits. The rural card includes everyone living in your household. For more information call 308-345-1906.

Activities planned include: a drawing for a book and a prize, also a Library Visit Scavenger Hunt, while you are here, find the books and mark them on your sheet and turn it in for a prize. We have put out some plain bookmarks and want you to decorate them anyway you would like and turn them in by next Thursday (April 7) for judging and everyone wins a prize.

Last but not least we will be hosting “Board Games Galore” on Wednesday, April 6th from 3:30-5:00 p.m. for all library patrons. we have many games to play and treats will be served. New Library System in Place

The McCook City Library has updated their library circulation system. Things are going pretty well, with a few things to work out yet. The major change is the number to be used with Overdrive. If you are an Overdrive user and cannot log in, please call the Library at 308-345-1906 and we will help you out. If you want to know more about Overdrive please call or stop in. Overdrive is a service the Library provides to give you access to books and magazines on your electronic devices. Any questions please call 308-345-1906. Christmas Book Drawing Winners

The McCook City Library held its annual Christmas Book Drawing. The following are the winners in the 13 years and up category: Jadelyn Nelson, Cora Bogardus, Jackson Blomstedt, Louis Jones, Jackie Grassia, Ronda Wurm, Sharolyn Troutman, Brooklyn Hoffman, Crystal Wahrman and Andrea Stevens.

Winners in the 6-12 years of age category were: Ewan Lashley, Ryker Vontz, Brody Jones, Isabelle Davidson, Mason Boyd, Kaleb Clause, Jordan Pollman, Zander Ralston, Kinsey Maynard and Lily Spencer.

Those winning books in the 5 years and under category are: Eden Uerling, Gracelyn McCarty, Hazel Dickes, Otto Solomon, Conley Cuellar, Bryer Ruppert, Tyeen Stewart, Weston Olson, Jacob Blomstedt and Ellisyn Marvier.

SUMMER READING SIGN-UP

Summer Reading sign-up is going on now through May 28th. Students going into Kindergarten are on Tuesdays from 10-11:30 a.m. Rest of the students, can pick an afternoon Monday-Thursday from 2:00-3:30 p.m. There will be reading, games, activities, crafts, contests and lots of fun. The Library along with the McCook Public Library Foundation is sponsoring 3 presentations at the City Auditorium. Students will be dropped off and picked up at the City Auditorium.

Wednesday June 9 from 10:-11 a.m. will be Hillbilly Science Spectacular. The show features 2 hilarious characters who demonstrate a number of homemade experiments they have created for an upcoming science fair. Experiments include homemade cannons, optical illusions, volcanoes and many more!

Thursday, June 10 from 10:30-11:30 will be CINDERELLA-Page to Stage. Crane River Theater is traveling to several libraries across Nebraska and we are one of the lucky one. Join Cinderella, Prince Charming, the Ugly Stepsisters, the fairy godmother and many more enchanted characters as they read, perform and interact with childeren to make “impossible things happen.”

Monday, July 19 from 10″30-11″30 a.m. will be Laughing Matters. “Nifty tricks and hare-brained Stories” by Jay and Leslie. They will bring the fun with juggling, animal-themed stories and lots of laughs in this delightful family show. Highlights include hat tricks, a bit of magic and the Tortoise and the Hare squaring off in a race.
