June 1st and the Summer Reading Program is on everyone’s mind. Here is a traditional fingerplay that works great with this summer’s theme:
Five Brave Firefighters
Five brave firefighters sleeping so
(Hold up five fingers and then place hands by head to mime sleeping.)
The fire bell rings!
(Make a “brrrrrinnggg” noise.)
Down the pole they go.
(Hold up pointer finger. With other pointer finger, point at first finger and slide downward.)
Jump in the fire truck,
Head down the street.
(Mime using a steering wheel.)
Climb up the ladder,
(Mime climbing.)
Feel the fire’s heat.
(Wipe brow.)
Five brave firefighters
Put the fire out.
(Hold up five fingers.)
Hip! Hip! Hurray!
All the people shout.
(Cheer.)
