Welcome to 2022! We have been waiting for the new year to begin at Kilgore Library so that we can start our new programs. The first one starts in January and we can hardly wait. For those of you who were able to attend our Christmas Craft Club, it’s the same idea — using donated books to create beautiful crafts. Each creation will have your guests wondering if they were bought, and they will be amazed to learn you made it at the library! The new, Altered Book Club, at Kilgore Memorial Library will begin on Monday, January 24th, 2022, at 5:00 p.m., once again hosted by Janey Due. This event will take place the fourth Monday of every month in the library. This family-friendly event is open to all, but it is recommended that children under 10 attend with an adult. It’s free and we would like to keep it that way! Our supplies are generously donated by the Friends of the Library, so a donation to them will insure that this club continues.
The January craft is a whimsical one! We will be creating “Streets of Books”. This craft would make an adorable addition to your favorite shelf, or could even be used as a knife block in your kitchen! We love finding crafts that are really unusual and something that not many people have seen before. It is very open-ended and will allow you to truly create each item personalized to your own style. You can make your “Street of Books” look like it comes from anywhere from Spain to England to Venice. We are so excited to see where this crafting event leads us, and we hope that you are too! See you on January 24th! Contact Janey or Deb at the library with any questions about this new program at Kilgore Memorial Library.
