As I was planning story time today, I realized that I didn’t blog about our December story times at all! We had problems with our internet a WiFi for a couple of weeks. We also got security cameras installed so that took up some of my extra blogging time. I promise to keep up on the library blog this year! If I find time later this year, I will add those three story times that I missed.
Today we had seven friends join us for story time.
We read books about winter and did finger plays celebrating snowflakes.
The first book we read was “Snow” by Uri Shulevitz.
The kids enjoyed this book and liked to look at the illustrations. Great read for winter!
Then we stood up and did a quick little song to get the wiggles out.
I found this on Pinterest but the link says it’s from Brownsburg Public Library. This is one of my favorite winter poems. The kids jumped when we said, “tickle you everywhere!” because I jumped out at them like I was going to tickle them. Much giggling ensued.
Then we read the new book by Kevin Henkes (whom I adore!!!!) called “Winter is Here”.
The kids enjoyed looking for the different animals that were hiding in the snow.
Then before we did our craft, we did one more finger play. This one is super cute and I found this video on Youtube from Little Sprouts Preschool.
Our craft was winter trees.
Our letter of the week is H. We made horses with our fingerprints!
