This Saturday, May 18th, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, is our Start-of-Summer Dr. Seuss-themed party!! We’ll have good food, games, crafts, and goodie bags for all who attend! We’ll be reading a lot, too, of course. We hope to see you there!!
We have already started receiving donations for Summer Reading!! Thank you Spartan/Smeal, Hunke Manufacturing LLC, Leona’s Place, Scribner Bank, Joe and Connie Kaup, Dairy Queen, Raising Cane’s, and Subway sooooo much for your donations!! We’re going to have an AMAZING program this year because of them!! Once again, if you have stuff around the house that you don’t use (such as toilet paper tubes, loose beads, little rocks and shells, little boxes, stickers, paperclips, clean pop bottles to cut in half, clean popsicle sticks, toothpicks, cotton balls, foil, craft corks, small washers, nuts, screws, springs, etc, discarded/broken jewelry, anything you can think of!) that could be used to make little robots, alien houses, spaceships, and other assorted crafts that we will be doing, please consider bringing it all to the library instead of throwing it away! We will be using the materials for this summer and for future events! Or if you want to come volunteer your time and help us out during the programs, talk to the kids about space and STEAM, donate snacks and/or items; anything you can think of would be a huge help to us. Thank you again!
This year, our Summer Reading Program will be a little bit different. Since the first Thursday in July is Independence Day, we have decided to have our programs on Tuesdays instead. So the 2nd, 9th, 16th, and the 23rd will be our program days (1:00 pm – 3:30 pm), and the 30th (time to be determined), will be our end-of-program pizza party! We will be having a special guest providing entertainment during the party this year!! I can’t wait! We’re going to be learning so much about space and STEAM, and have lots of fun while doing so! I’ve got bunches of ideas; all I’ve got to do is narrow them down and construct the programs around them. We’re going to have a blast!
Our clubs are still going well, but I’ve lost the regulars who always came to Writing Club. Hopefully that will pick back up again. Last month, Chess Club has six attendees, Writing Club had none, the first Gym Day had three, and Board Game Night had eight. This month, Chess Club had six attendees, Writing Club once again had none, and today’s Gym Day had four kids coming out to play. I have a feeling that Board Game Night will end up being the top club soon (depending on next week’s numbers), with Chess Club close behind. And as summer starts, hopefully Gym Day will get more popular. I’m still holding out hope for Writing Club, though!!
I hope to have more info about the Summer Reading Programs next month but that’s all from me for now. Have a great start to your summer and we hope to see you here soon at your Snyder Public Library!!!
