We have recently been contacted by patrons who have received telephone solicitations from the library. The person(s) initiating the phone call claim they are from the library, are working from a report which shows “your account has expired” and that you must pay the $25.00 fee to update your account.
Please note — the library does not contact you by phone regarding your account expiration. You do receive an email from us if we have your email address. PLEASE do not give your information to this person. If you are contacted, please ask for one of the librarians (Gayle, Wendy, Connie or Celeste). By no means pay with a credit card or bank withdrawal. The city/library does not accept credit cards.
We would appreciate your calling the library and letting us know if you receive a phone call like this. If you have the caller’s phone number or name, that would be useful. Our databases have NOT been compromised. We believe these are random calls.
