National Library Week Book Drawings

National Library Week was celebrated the first week in April.  Book drawing winners in the adult category included: Roxanne, Hurt, Kristy Smith-Kreiling, Meghan Giorgione, Lindsay Dame, Lucille Wolvin, Heather Bieker, Gay Schoott, Josiah Weyeneth, Chase Trosper and Marilyn Anderjaska.

Winners in the youth category included: London Blomstedt, Spencer Schliep, Addison Schliep, Reagan Schilling, Isabelle Clause, Kasen Yilk, Zander Ralston, Kaela Hinz, Nolan Yilk and Mark Wolfe.

Also during April we celebrated Poetry Month with guests poets reciting their poems. Ginny Odenbach from McCook (our Favorite) and  C. F. Kelly. Lindi Johnson from the McCook High School also made an appearance.

Coloring Contests were held in different age groups relating to poetry.

Ages 3-5

1st-Kennedy Fichtner; 2nd-Jordan Pollman; 3rd-Rinlee Blomstedt; other participants were: Gabriel Ulloa, Kasen Yilk, Britton Blomstedt and Natalie Weyeneth.

Ages 6-8

1st-Zaely Pace: 2nd-Alice Weimer; 3rd-Nolan Yilk: other participants were: Clare Weber, Josilin Miller, Maria Ulloa, Violet Stevens and Axel Blomstedt.

Ages 9-12

1st-Jackson Blomstedt; 2nd-MacKenzie Witt; 3rd-Lucy Weber; other participants were: Emma Graff, Paige Witt, Camryn Yilk, Bailee Foster, Kapri Loop, Adyn Meyer, Addison Schliep, Alyssa Skeen, Sueanne Miner and Esperanza Bueno.

 

 

April is Showering Activities at the Library

April is a busy time at the McCook City Library. Listed below are activities that will be going on. If you have any questions, please contact the Library at 345-1906.

April 6th– Thursday 4-5 pm (for ages 5-15) “CHALK A POEM”-Come listen to poems read by the TAB (Teen Advisory Board) and write one of your own with some help and then take it outside and write in on our sidewalks, including some artwork.

April 9th-15th– “NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK”-check out the contests and activities during this special week. Bring a friend and have them sign up for a library card and receive a prize.

April 19th–Wednesday  6:30-7:30 pm  “POETRY READING” Come and enjoy the readings from our local poet Ginny Odenbach and a special guest and published poet, C.F. Kelly. Also joining in will be a few high school students reciting their poems. Refreshments will be served.  A evening of enjoyment for all.

April 27th– Thursday 6:30-7:30 pm “1,000 BOOKS BEFORE KINDERGARTEN CELEBRATION” will be held with refreshments, a special reading from some very special friends. Announcements of reading goals and prizes to be handed out. Get your sheets turned in and come join us and your friends for an evening of fun……Watch for you invitation.

Winners of Mickey, Minnie and Yodas

   Lilly Spencer won the plush Mickey and Minnie. Zander Ralston, and Gabriel Smith won the Yodas. The Yodas were donated by Kime Williams and Teresa Kipp. Special thanks to them. 

Stockings Have Found New Homes

The stocking drawing has been held and the following will choose a stocking full of surprises and a book to enjoy over the holidays. Adult winners include: Calvin Baker, Paulette Burkhardt, Tracy Crocker, Bryce Dutton, KC Eckhardt, Jackie Grassia, Nancy Gumb, Maycee Hicks, Jim Sutton, Trinity Sorenson, Katy Snyder, Florene Burton, Linda Hall and Vickie Wacker. HAPPY HALLOWEEN CANDY WINNERS

     Boy! The candy went fast. McCook City Library will begin winter hours on Tuesday, September 6th.

Hours are:

Monday-Thursday- 9:00 am-8:00 pm

Friday and Saturday- 9:00 am-5:00 pm

Sunday- Closed

LABOR DAY CLOSING

The McCook City Library will be closed Saturday, September 3 and Monday, September 5 for the Labor Day holiday. Enjoy your weekend with family and friends.

GREAT BOOKS FOR GREAT KIDS
