Join TEAM HENRY for an Author Visit
McCook City Library Invites You to Join TEAM HENRY for an Author Visit on Monday, July 18, 2016 at 10 a.m. Dr. Pierre Rouzier is riding his bike from the coast of Oregon to Boston, Massachusetts. He will be stopping to discuss his book “Henry Gets Moving.” Henry the Hamster is a young boy who overcomes his obesity challenge with an active lifestyle and healthy eating habits.
Dr. Rouzier will present those in attendance with a book and Peg Brooks will provide a snack.

Sign-up now for McCook City Library’s Summer Reading Program. Theme for this year’s program will be “On Your Mark, Get Set, READ.” Different weeks will be: Hop, Skip, Jump; Year of the Monkey; Sports Bonanza; Off to the Races; Around the World Games; Exercise is Good for You; Olympic Trials and Gold Medal Winners.

Quiet Time Storytime
Come join us Thursday (May 5) from 7:00-7:45 pm for an evening of stories, songs and fun. Miss Diane will be reading stories to get you ready to head to bed. Wear your pajamas and brnig the entire family. We will also have some milk and cookies to help off to DREAMLAND.

Volunteers Abundant at the Library
This years Summer Reading program was benefited by several volunteers. They include: Mary Dueland, Leigh Farrell and Sharon Bohling. We also had youth from the Teen Advisory Board (TAB) that spent some time with us this summer helping with reading, crafts and games. They included: Katie Kjendal, Emily Kjendal, Lexi Hauxwell, Rozelynn Latta, Collin Doak, Baylor Winters, Lydia Risenhoover, Smantha Gapp and Brianna Hazen. A very big thank you and much appreciation for their time and help.
Summer Reading Ends with Readers Galore
The final count for the McCook City Library’s Summer Reading Program is in. We hosted 40 children in Kindergartner’s Unite (going to Kindergarten in the fall); 102 in 1st and 2nd grades; 77 in 3rd and 4th grades and 51 in 5th and 6th grades, with a grand total of 270. Top readers include: Kindergartner’s Unite-Axel Blomstedt, Arianna Donvito, Hannah Peterson, Trev Wiemers, Zane Montes, Tekoa Hazlitt, Ellie Havlicek, Akarii Colburn, Kevin Wolfe and John White. First and second graders are: Rambler Farr, Brianna Stecker, Jackson Blomstedt, Skylar Smith, Kamryn Clapp, Cali Crawford, Truman Hancock, Isiah Scarbrough, Aiden Lauer, Paige Broomfield, Abby Sedlacek and Otto Matson. Third and fourth grader top readers include: Mykuh Hanson, Isabella Scollard, Abigail Gross, Hannah Thompson, Noah Ladd, Lacey Rouse, Isabelle Clause, Lincoln Michaelis, Davien Hanson, Danika Havlick and fifth and sixth graders are: Maxwell Weimer, Chesney Latta, Faith Sorenson, Avery Broomfield, Tucker Gillespie, Shelbi Hazlitt, Jachin Scollard, Kaelin Storrs, Joanan Scollard and Aiden Barger. Congratulations to all who participated in the summer reading program.
Bookworms Counted for Children’s Book Week
Nathaniel Miller was the winner of the closet guess for the amount of bookworms in the flower pot. Nathaniel’s guess was 550. There were 549 gummi worms in the pot. Congratulations!!!!
Book winners included: Joslyn Hammond, Savannah McCarty, Kaiden Porter, Kenzie Michaelis, Tavin Rouselle, Maria Ulloa, Asher Wilson, Abel Wilson, Bronson Frazier and Hannah Peterson.
Children’s Book Week activities include: a bunny scavenger hunt, (kids searched shelves to find bunnies hidden among the shelves); book drawing; candy guess; bookmark design class, comic book fun with Cody Dame from Game On(all the children received a free comic book); cupcake decorating class and an evening story time with pajamas and milk and cookies.

“BE OUR HERO” as Registration for Summer Reading Begins May 1st
Registration for McCook City Library’s Summer Reading Program, “Every Hero Has A Story” will begin on Friday, May 1st and end on Friday, May 29th. This program is for children going into kindergarten through 6th grade with a current and active library card.
