Summer Reading is for Everyone!

Embedded DIG into Reading Logo“Dig Into Reading” is the theme for this year’s Summer Reading Program. The program runs through the month of July and is for children in grades K-5. Crystal Stratman will be in charge of our reading program this year and has many exciting events planned!

The librarians will be visiting the school soon to encourage advance sign-up and get the students excited about reading this summer. Watch the webpage calendar, Facebook and look for flyers around town with details.

New this year to the Stromsburg Public Library is a Teen Summer Reading Program. The teen program will run through the months of May, June, and July and will end before school starts in August. Each month will have a different theme that relates back to the central theme of “Beneath the Surface”. There will be a weekly trivia contest, big events and a teen book club.

The teen program will kick off with a “Hobbit Party” on May 4th at 12:30 at the library. We will have hobbit food, trivia, and games. Come dressed as your favorite hobbit and you could win a prize for “Best Costume”.

Also new this year is the Adult Summer Reading Program. The program will run from May-August and will be in addition to monthly events such as book club and genealogy meetings. Join us as we look at groundbreaking books, technology and events.

Adults will keep a reading log similar to what the kids fill out each summer, with a twist. Anything you check out from the library counts! Come see what all the library has to offer besides just books. Movies, audio books, eBooks, and magazines, are just a few of the  materials available for check out, we also have an Accu-Cut machine, projector, cake pans and so much more!

Watch the calendar on our web page for more details on all the upcoming Summer Reading events!

Mark Your Calendars for April 16

Tuesday, April 16, come out and join the fun at the Stromsburg Public Library! Taxes are done, Spring is here (maybe?) it’s time to get out and enjoy the days to come!

We will be holding our monthly lapsit at 11:00 am for 1-4 year olds and their parents. Lapsits are held the third Tuesday of each month. They are a fun time of reading, rhyming, and singing for parents and children. This month our stories are oldies but goodies with selections from Aesop’s Fables, Mother Goose, and popular fairy tales.

Tuesday night at 7:00, Colleen Pallas will be with us to talk about creating your own herb garden. Information will be given on caring for the herbs, use of the herbs and how to freeze and dry your herbs.
