Want to take a break and watch a good movie. The Elgin Public Library is starting a new collection of DVD’s. We have ordered just a few to get started but our goal is to add several each month. The first DVD’s will be for children. To date we have purchased “The Greatest Showman”, “Coco”, “Wonder” and “Moana”. We hope you stop by and check out a movie. In addition to the new DVD’s there are several new books on the shelf. If you like the suspense and mystery novels we have The Cutting Edge by Jeffery Deaver, The Fallen by David Baldacci, Twisted Prey by John Sandford , The 17th Suspect by James Patterson and Twenty-one Days: A Daniel Pitt Novel by Anne Perry. If you prefer a more contemporary romance novel we have The Family Gathering by Robyn Carr. The third book in her Sullivan’s Crossing series she relates to small town characters and weaves real life elements into her plots. For the western fan, Hang Him Twice is new from author William W. Johnstone. We have also received an older large print series by Robert B. Parker and Robert Knott. The series includes: Appaloosa, Resolution, Brimstone, Blue-eyed Devil, Ironhorse, Bull River, The Bridge, Blackjack and Revelation.
Book club books have arrived. This month the ladies will be reading “The Outside Boy” by Jeanine Cummins. This heart-warming story brings 1950s Ireland to life, and explores the universal bonds of family, community and identity.
Another interesting collection that you can view at the library is a set of items donated by Rita Wagner. These items tell a story of the many businesses past and present that have lined the streets of Elgin over the years.
