Christmas Around the World

Our last flight for Christmas Around the World was Monday, December 18. On this flight 32 children took a trip to discover Christmas in Australia. Our book for this week was entitled “An Aussie Night Before Christmas” by Yvonne Morrison and Kilmeny Niland. Upon arrival they learned that in Australia Santa flies in an “ute” pulled by eight mighty ‘roos (kangaroos). Santa was also dressed in a bit of a non-traditional way in his stubby red shorts and red flowered shirt! The kids also enjoyed making snow globes featuring “surfin’ Santa” followed up with a snack of Australian fairy bread. The Elgin Public Library would like to thank all the children who helped us celebrate Christmas Around the World and so until next year “Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night or from Australia “goodonya mates!”

Festival of Trees

Stop by the fairgrounds this weekend for the Festival of Trees. The event is December 2 and 3 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Elgin Public Library has a tree with ornaments made by our own Lego League kids. Each ornament is made entirely from Legos. Come visit the Festival of Trees and support the Lego League kids.
