This past fall, Elgin Public Library was given an opportunity to share books we had weeded. They were sent to Kenya so they could start their own library. Below is a thank you from the children of Kenya.
On Monday, December 9, Mrs. Claus made a visit to Elgin Public Library. She came to read stories to Preschool through 2nd grade children. She read How to Catch an Elf by Adam Wallace and Andy Elkerton and Click, Clack, Ho! Ho! Ho! by Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin. Mrs. Claus stayed to help the children do some crafts. She also had time to have some pictures taken with those that attended. Thank you Mrs. Claus for visiting us!
This month we went to the first grade rooms at Pope John and Elgin Public schools. We read the story ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas on the Farm by Craig Manning. It’s the night before Christmas and not a creature is stirring except for a little lamb. A special visitor comes to the farm and visits the barn where most of the animals are fast asleep. It is a wonderful twist from the classic story with sweet farm animals and rhymes. After the story they made a rocking Santa.
