The closure of Baker & Taylor left many libraries in a bit of a pickle. A number of vendors are seeking a slice of that portion of the library market now, including those below:
- Ingram. A representative from Ingram will be demonstrating their online tools (via Zoom), as well as taking questions on November 14 (our next CASTL). Some information, including Nebraska pricing, can be found here. Currently, Ingram waits to ship until it has 20 titles for a library, although “hot” titles will likely cause earlier shipment of an order even if a total of 20 hasn’t been reached.
- Amazon Business. They have been working on a library hub, to which they plan to continue to add features. It takes about a week after establishing a business account with the name “library” in it to access library pricing. After establishing the account, you can sign up for webinars about the library hub.
- At CASTL, it was noted that Barnes & Noble will provide discounts of 30% on purchases of $1,000 and above at stores, and it will also invoice. Since CASTL, B&N has begun touting its library services providing discounts of 20% – 35%.
- At CASTL is was also noted that Center Point provides a large print choice plan with a discount 40% as long as 100 books per year are purchased.
- In addition, as reported by Publisher’s Weekly, both Follett Content and Mackin are entering the public library market.
