The Reading Room is the focal point of our library, which houses 16,000 books and materials. The children’s area is set up in a Theme Box format, making it easier for younger readers to find the book they want to read. They just pull down the book tub and go through the books on dinosaurs, princesses, farms, trucks, dancing….they find just the right book – by themselves! There are board books to entertain little ones and often seasonal crafts at the children tables. Don’t forget those special books for all those beginning readers and readers looking for their first chapter books.
The junior readers is organized by themes and shelved by non-fiction, biographies and fiction books to ease into the library way of organizing books. There is also a young adult section that contains fiction books for our junior high and high school readers. Classic books have there own area next to the multi-cultural books for all our patrons
The remainder of the reading room consists of the public access computer center and the adult reading area containing our collection of fiction, non-fiction, biographies, magazines, newspapers, reference, and several special collections.
The Stastny Meeting Room is available for groups to use during or after hours with an appointment.
The Czech Heritage Room holds a large selection of books and displays on our Czech heritage, books written in Czech and books about the Czech Republic. Worth a few minutes of your time to “Czech” this room out.
The walls are adorned with portraits of the Stastny and Dvoracek families. Several display cases feature sculptures, many local artists are featured throughout the library.
