New Shelving has Arrived

The new shelving has arrived and it is beautiful. Please stop in and see it. This means that books are coming back upstairs and being re-shelved. This is a process that will take some time, with every book being wiped down before it can be shelved. The library project is starting to take shape with the addition of these shelves. Come in and take a look around.

Things are Getting Closer!

Things are progressing with our construction. We have the ceiling done in the basement. We have lights and framing up in the main part of the library and waiting for the rest of the ceiling tiles to be put in. They are working above the front desk, office and foyer. The elevator has been installed, fire sprinklers and fire alarm system. They are working on the brick work on the outside. We hope to start on the restrooms soon. Stop by and see the progress.
The card catalog at the library and on the website is still being worked on and hope to have it up and running soon.
If you have any questions, stop in or call us at 345-1906.

New Titles

November has brought us crisper weather and new items for check out. We have John Sandford’s “Storm Front,”and Iris Johansen’s third book in her Eve Duncan Trilogy, “Silencing Eve.”
The new John Grisham book, “Sycamore Row” is available in regular print, large print, and book on CD.
For those who enjoyed the Beatles, “When They Were Boys” written by Larry Kane. A book about the early days of the Beatles, when they were just getting started.
With the holidays right around the corner, the new “Gooseberry Patch Gifts from the Kitchen,” has many ideas for gifts and goodies.
These are just a few of the new items at the library. Come see our new lighting and all the improvements going on.

Library Card Sign-up Month

September is Library Card Sign-up month at McCook Public Library. If you do not have a current library card and live inside of McCook city limits, all you need is a photo ID and a current piece of mail showing your address. Bring these items in and fill out an application card and you will be all set.  Cards do need to be renewed each year so we may update your information.

If you live outside city limits then we also need a photo ID, a current piece of mail and $10. This library card is good for one year and includes the family members living at this household. Bring these items in and fill out an application card.

Some reasons for getting a library card include: empower yourself-check out a book, enroll your child in the summer reading program, download an e-book through Nebraska Overdrive, use a library computer, attend story time, trek to another planet with a sci-fi book, free online tools, build your young readers’s self esteem or find a quiet spot and enjoy a good book.

New Titles for September

The library is nice and cool, come in out of the heat and enjoy the new items for September, including:”Rose Harbor in Bloom” by Debbie MaComber, “The Last Witness” by W.E.B. Griffin, and “The Third Kingdom” by Terry Goodkind. Check out a DVD to watch at home, some new titles are: “The Great Gatsby,” The Big Wedding,” and “Olympus Has Fallen” to name just a few!

Constrution continues but the library remains open. Don’t let the “mess” stop you from coming in for a look!
