Oops!!!

I owe you a huge apology; I can’t believe I haven’t posted to you since Thanksgiving!  So much has happened in and out of our little library.  Our makeover is gorgeous and we’re not done!  We asked for and received the balance of the money that was raised for a new library almost 15 years ago.  With part of that money you’ll see new bookcases in a few weeks; and if you want to know see how your donations and taxes are being spent, please stop by the library during normal opening hours and I’ll be glad to show you!  Remember this is your library – what can we do to make it better for you?

With winter breathing down the backs of our coats what better way to keep warm than to curl up with a good book?  We get new books and movies every month – stop by and let me know what you’d like to read.   Come on in to a warm, inviting library – settle in and catch upon local news with the five newspapers we have, or look up new recipes in our many magazines.  Long for more refinement?  We have National Geographic and Smithsonian here to get the gray matter working!  So Many Options for you!

But as a reminder, if you’re planning to come see us and the weather is nasty outside, please call the library first before you set out just to make sure we’re here; our number is posted to the right.   Remember, this is your Snyder library – let us know how we can serve you better!

Fall Is Here!

Be Thankful!

What a wonderful time of year!  Just a few annoying insects remain as the nights are getting colder, the harvest is almost done, and it’s time to sit back and reflect on the busy summer. And while you’re relaxing, why don’t you come and see what we’ve done to our little library!  That new coat of paint did wonders!  See what we have new in movies and books to help you relax through these dark, chilly nights.  Sometimes there’s just nothing more relaxing than curling up with a good book or a great action flick with your beverage of choice.  We have over 300 movies to choose from here at the library and more come in every month.  We have some of the NY Times best sellers in books or if you’re just looking to try a new recipe or project, don’t forget we subscribe to Mother Earth News, Taste of Home, Cooking Light, and Handyman Magazine to name a few.  You know, the seed catalogs will be coming out soon and we’ll all prep for another great year; but now, at this time of year, let’s be thankful for the bounty we each have.  Your bounty may not come from the field but from the home.  Your bounty may not be riches in money but riches in the love of your family and friends.  Whatever bounty you are thankful for, share it with others and let them bask in your bounty!  I hope you all have a wonderful, blessed Thanksgiving with your family and friends, and so that we may celebrate with our family and friends, the library will be closed on Wednesday, 22 November.  Be safe and loving, and enjoy your bounty!  Happy Thanksgiving from your Snyder Library!

What a Halloween Spooktacular Event!

Well!  Despite the snowy conditions we had a great turn-out for our annual Halloween Party, co-sponsored by the Snyder Volunteer Fire Department and the Snyder Lion’s Club.  Great food and games, and of course, our annual costume contest for ages 0 – 12. We had pumpkin bowling, ‘bobbing’ for donuts, pin the tail on the black cat, cookie decorating and our pumpkin toss across.  Our goodies for the evening were mummied hot dogs, scary jello jigglers, mummy-gut dip, sandwiches, chips and awesome halloween punch!  We hope to see even more folks here next year for our great feasts and games!  Our Costume Contest 1st and 2nd place winners were:  Ages o – 3: Adalynn Renter and Reagan Hunke; ages 4 – 7: Mae Horn and Allya Besmer; and ages 8 – 12:  Braxton Wisnieski and Ava Hultgren.  Congrats to our winners and thanks to all the children who participated!  Here are some pics for you; you can see others in the West Point News next week!  We hope to see you here soon, at your Snyder Library!
