Snyder Public Library

Hey, everyone! Liz the Librarian here. My my, it sure is cold right now, isn’t it? Can’t wait for spring to get here! I’m not a fan of snow, and we’re getting a lot of it at the moment. Hopefully it doesn’t stick around for long!

Our clubs are still going strong! Well, except for one, but the kids already have ideas for it to become something else eventually. They’re so excited. In January, we had five people at the Chess Club, four at the Writing Club, two at the Board Game Night (we played Clue, remember?), and nobody for the Young Adult Book Club. Today was Chess Club again, and we had SIX kids there, all playing chess. They’re getting really good at it! I’m hoping we’ll be able to do tournaments someday. Next week is Writing Club, and we’ll be doing Valentine’s Day prompts. I hope to see you all there!

On Saturday, March 2nd, we will be having a celebration! It will be Dr. Seuss’ birthday and National Read Across America Day, and we will be celebrating reading! The party will be a pajama party, so be sure to bring your pillow and blanket! We will have multiple story times, games and crafts, and snacks for you to enjoy! I also have lots of goodies to give out to everybody! The party will be held in the auditorium, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. All are welcome to come and enjoy the festivities, and if you want to volunteer, just come to me and ask! I hope to come to you next month with a blog all about it, and I’ll be sure to add tidbits and information about the man himself and how the holiday came to be!

We have been getting sooooo many book donations lately! I’ve got six boxes of donated books to add eventually – I’ll probably never have to buy a book (besides new ones in series’ or by authors that we always get) ever again! We have a bunch in the hallway to give away for free, and that’s where I put any books that I cull or don’t want to add – so if you want some new books for yourself, come on down to the library and pick some out! If you have books you want to get rid of, but can’t make it to a donating facility, bring them to the library and I will either add them to the library’s collection or put them in the hallway to give away. You can never have too many books!

Hello, all! It’s a new day in a new year; let’s make 2019 a great one!

Our library’s Patron Only Party went great! Thank you to all who came! And thank you to my library board ladies, who made lots of yummy food for it! I made deviled eggs for the first time, and they ended up being a hit, thank goodness. It was a lot of fun, and we saw all kinds of people. If you weren’t able to make it, there will be one in December again this year!

This librarian here is focusing on doing inventory and completing the annual library survey! Busy, busy, busy! Otherwise, we are still doing our weekly Club Nights on Wednesdays, from 4:30pm to 5:30pm. Today was Board Game Night, and we played Clue! So much fun. Next week is Chess Club, don’t miss it!

We won’t be having another big event until March, which will be our Dr. Seuss party. I will post the full details for it in next month’s blog. It’ll be the first Dr. Seuss event I’ve ever hosted! Should be fun! We’re going to read a lot!

Not too much else is happening around here at the moment, which is just fine with all of us here at the library! The last three months of 2018 were super busy! Now we can relax for a little bit before jumping into Dr. Seuss and the Summer Reading Program all over again. This year’s theme is space!! I can’t wait!!
