Lego Mania at the Library

[slideshow_deploy id=’779′]     On Monday, March 27, the Elgin Public Library started their first Lego League.  Students in Grades K – 6 were invited to participate.  They only needed to bring their imagination and creativity.  The library supplied the legos.   We had 36 eager Lego builders attending.  They started out with building their name or initials and ended with building their own designs.  Their creations are on display at the library so come and see what these kids created.  If your child missed out on participating in Lego League, they still have a chance to join.  Just give us a call.  Due to the tremendous turnout, we are considering dividing it into two sessions.  One will be on the third Monday and the other on the fourth Monday of the month.  Thank you to the Bargain Box for the grant that made it possible for us to buy the Legos.

Jesse James in Nebraska

On March 13, Jeff Barnes of Humanities Nebraska, shared his knowledge of the infamous outlaw, Jesse James with students from Elgin Public School, St. Boniface, and Pope John as well as members of the community.  The audience was treated to the life of Jesse James and his connection to Nebraska.  Mr. Barnes was sponsored by Elgin Public Library.
