Penguins to the Rescue

January story time took us to the first grade classrooms at Elgin Public and St. Boniface. We read the story Penguins to the Rescue by Tony Mitton. This book opens with the day starting out, and all the little penguins coming out to play. With each page, they find another creative and fun way to play together outside. They do this until they get on an ice floe and find a sobbing ball of fur. The penguins refuse to leave the crying pup and then decide to cheer him up. Following the story the children made penguins which are pictured below.
